Artist and Art Teacher

About Jackie

Jackie Ward was born in Coventry, Warwickshire in 1947 and left school at the age of 16.
Jackie applied to work in an exclusive commercial art studio but was told by the secretary, "We don't take girls!" - It was like that in those days, says Jackie, but she persisted and eventually was given a job as a graphic artist. She worked successfully in the studio for 8 years and then left to take up the post as graphic artist for Coventry City Council.
Married in 1970, Jackie moved to Leicestershire, and continued to work in Coventry. After having identical twin sons in 1978, she worked in a local school as an artist.
Fifteen years ago Jackie decided to start an after school art and craft club for young people aged 8+ in a large extension to her Leicestershire home. Some children who began when they were 8 are still attending today and are taking driving lessons too!
Completely self taught Jackie has always painted fine art for pleasure. and with the art club still going strong, Jackie finds time to enjoy painting for herself in oil and acrylic.

With Jackie's artistic flexibility and her past influences she is able to create pieces of art in a wide variety of subjects and media.
